Your Guide to a Local Thanksgiving - SHOP

Thanksgiving is the perfect Vermont-sourced meal! You can find almost every ingredient at a farm down the road.

If you are not looking to spend all day in the kitchen, we have something for you too - a list of VFN Members offering locally sourced holiday catering and grab-and-go options.

What ever you choose, remember to pair your localicious meal with a Vermont cider, wine or mead.

Shop for Ingredients:
Brookfield Bees, Brookfield: Buy fresh unpasteurized cider, honey and cider reduction syrup. Find them at Northfield Farmers Market on Sunday, Nov 22 from 11am-2pm or on the farm in Brookfield - call 802.276.3808 to check availability.

Burelli Farm, Berlin: VOF and USDA Certified Organic beef, pork and chicken. Featuring steaks, roasts, fresh ham and pork shoulder; as well as our famous certified organic, state inspected whole young chickens. Purchase on the farm - call 802.595.2572 for availability.

Fat Toad Farm, Brookfield: Fat Toad's Goat's Milk Caramel Sauces can be found online at www.fattoadfarm.com, at the Farm Stand in Brookfield, or at Healthy Living, Hunger Mountain Coop, City Market, King Arthur Flour, Cold Hollow Cider Mill, Plymouth Artisan Cheese, The Golden Carrot, Red Hen Bakery, Laughing Moon Chocolates, Pete's Greens, Lake Champlain Chocolates, The Cabot Annex in Waterbury.

Green Mountain Girls Farm, Northfield: Find nearly everything you'll need for a localvore, organic, humaneitarian Thanksgiving meal including pasture raised turkey, pork, goat and chicken, turkey breasts and farmstead maple breakfast sausage; sweet potatoes and other great veggies; pickles, eggs and prepared foods like Roasted Turkey Bone Broth for sipping or making gravy; heirloom tomato bloody mary mix and much more. Farmstand will be stocked and staffed Tuesday, Nov 24th 3-7 pm and open self-serve or by appointment other days. Hollandeer Farm, Derby: Consider Venison Sirloin Tip Roasts for an alternative (or in addition) to turkey for Thanksgiving! Visit www.hollandeerfarm.com to order.

Killdeer Farm Stand, Norwich: Offering farm fresh ingredients along with other delectables for your holiday meals. Fresh picked organic vegetables, artisan cheeses, organic Vermont dairy products, meats and much more including over 20 varieties of local apples! They are open weekdays from 10am to 6pm and weekends 10am to 4pm until Thanksgiving. Visit killdeerfarm.com for more info!

Laughing Child Farm, Pawlet: Find organic sweet potatoes farm at the Laughing Child Farm Stand. They are available in 2# bags, in many different varieties. The farm stand is open 8-4 every day and is self-serve!

Red Hen Baking Co, Middlesex: Supply your Thanksgiving meal with Red Hen offerings: Stuffing mix, pumpkin and apple pies, bread, rolls... Please order ahead of time. Also, hors d'oeuvres- Vermont cheeses, meats, smoked salmon, wine, beer.... And purchase your host a gift: locally made rolling pin, cutting board, bottle opener or Red Hen ceramic mug. Open Monday 7am to 4pm, Tuesday - Saturday 7am to 6pm and Sunday 8am to 6pm.

Vermont Cranberry Company, East Fairfield. They have fresh VT Cranberries in retail packages and bulk! Fresh berries are available from Black River Produce, Upper Valley Produce, and at the Burlington Farmers Market this Saturday, 10am-2pm. Look for berries at many VFN retail partners. New, is Super Tart 100% cranberry Juice, available at the Burlington Farmers Market, City Market, and Killdeer Farmstand.

Vermont Fresh Pasta, Proctorsville: Shake things up this holiday and try Vermont Fresh Pasta's Butternut Qquash Ravioli in place of mashed potatoes! Here's a list of where to find VFP products.

Pair Your Feast:
Boyden Valley Winery & Spirits, Cambridge: They offer a variety of wines, ciders, and cream liqueurs that are perfect for the Thanksgiving table. Their holiday go-to beverages are our Cranberry wine and Glogg. Our Cranberry Wine is crafted from locally grown cranberries from the Vermont Cranberry Company. The off-dry wine has a hint of sweet up front and a tart cranberry finish with a beautiful cranberry color. The flavor profile is perfect for pairing with a holiday turkey. Glogg is based on a traditional Swedish holiday recipe using our red wine and infused with a variety of spices including cinnamon, clove, cardamom, and orange peel. Simply heat it up in your crock pot or on a stove top and enjoy! You can even reduce it down for the perfect glaze for a holiday ham. Additionally, they have Vermont Ice Wines and Cream Liqueurs that can be savored on their own or made into fantastic holiday cocktails.

Caledonia Spirits, Hardwick: Caledonia craft spirits or raw honey make an excellent gift or addition to the holiday table. This season, they are also offering a gift pack which includes a 375mL bottle of our Barr Hill Gin, and Barr Hill Tom Cat Barrel Aged Gin as well as a 1 pound jar of our raw honey, all conveniently packaged up in a cardboard case with recipes printed on the back! Look for these on sale at their distillery, at their farmers' markets (Rutland and Burlington indoor markets on Saturdays), special events, at select Vermont Liquor outlets! Eden Specialty Ciders, Newport: Cider is the original colonial beverage, and Eden has the best ciders for all parts of your holiday meal. Naturally sparkling ciders: Our sparkling dry and semi-dry ciders are like apple champagne, recommended by abcnews.com, the CiderJournal, and winner of the Best in Show award at the Great Lakes International Cider Competition. Lincoln Peak Vineyard LLC, New Haven: Stick Season Nouveau wines: light red and dark red! Available only on Saturday, Nov 21, 12-5pm at the Vineyard. Celebrate the very first of the 2015 vintage right in the winery with a free tasting. Bring your Lincoln Peak growler or get one here and fill it directly from the tank! Stick Season Nouveau wines are crisp and fresh - the perfect complement to Thanksgiving dinner. These wines are delicious right now, and won't be bottled for sale later on. They are intended to be enjoyed fresh within a week (or so) of filling up your growler. Available as growler fills only.

Catered or Grab-and-Go:
The Farmhouse Catering Co., East Calais: Thanksgiving Feast Menu: Roasted turkey with a sage onion stuffing, gravy, smashed sweet potatoes baked with maple, scallion butter, vegetable medley of rosemary roasted brussel sprouts, carrots and potatoes, cranberry apricot walnut compote, and apple pie. $40.00 per person - 6 person minimum - 1-2PM pick-up. Flavors of Home, Middlebury: Visit flavorsofhome.net to order your sides for the holiday! Orders must be in by November 20th. Menu: Brussel Sprout Salad with parmesan, olives and almonds - $4 per person. Vegetarian Kale & Leek Gratin - $4 per person. Vegetarian Ginger Almond Green Beans - $3 per person. Vegetarian Roasted Brussel Sprouts with Cranberry & Brown Butter - $5 per person. Vegetarian Savory Rosemary Fennel Pecan Stuffing - $6 per person. Stuffing with Chorizo, Sun Dried Tomato & Pine Nuts - $8 per person Vegetarian Mushroom & Shallot Stuffing - $6 per person. Vegetarian Cranberry Relish - $3 per person. We offer delicious pies, fresh baked rolls and breads, Adams Farm fresh turkeys, and all our great prepared sides cooked to order.

Sugarsnap, Williston: They are offering traditional Thanksgiving dishes to take home. Pick up the day before Thanksgiving. Order deadline is Monday, Nov. 23. Check out the menu and order online!
