Vermont Fresh Network Farms Participate in Vermont Open Farm Week

August 3, 2015

This August marks the first ever Vermont Open Farm Week, and almost 100 farms across the state are opening their doors to visitors for farm tours, classes, activities and a chance to get an in-depth look at where our food comes from. Many of the farms, orchards and wineries participating in this event are members of the Vermont Fresh Network! Be sure to check out the great activities these members have planned:

 

Monday, August 3:

Boston Post Dairy : 9am to 5pm. Taste farmstead cheese, maple, and other products, visit the animals, and take a hike on the Missisquoi Valley Trail.

Boyden Valley Winery: 10am to 6pm. Tour the winemaking facility, taste wine, cider and gourmet cheeses, and enjoy the vineyards.

Burelli Farm: 9am to 5pm. Tour the farm, meet the animals and purchase food from the farm store.

Caledonia Spirits: 12pm to 5pm. Tour the facility and taste award winning spirits.

Fat Toad Farm: 10am to 4pm. Learn all about goats and taste some goat’s milk caramel.

Golden Well Farm & Apiaries: 9am to 4pm. Learn about the farm, PYO berries and flowers and enjoy other fun activities.

Green Mountain Orchards: 8am to 6pm. PYO blueberries and lots of fun activities at the orchard!

Lincoln Peak Vineyard & Winery : 11am to 5pm. Enjoy wine and cheese, tour the vineyards, and feel free to bring the kids!

 

Tuesday, August 4:

Shelburne Farms: Gates at 5pm; show starts at 6:15. Farm to Ballet Project tells the story of a Vermont farm.

 

Wednesday, August 5:

Shelburne Farms: Gates at 5:30pm, show at 6:30pm. Brett Hughes Band performs at the Farm Barn. Bring a picnic, or there will be farm grown food to purchase.

Windstone Farm : 9:00am to 6:00pm. Come check out the farm!

 

Thursday, August 6:

Shelburne Farms : 4pm. Wild Mushroom Foraged Dinner- Learn how to identify and sustainably harvest mushrooms, and eat a dinner cooked from your harvest.

Smokeshire Hilltop Farm: 10 am to 6pm. PYO blueberries and meet the sheep and lambs.
