On the Menu - Good to Go Food Cart!

October 15, 2014

For the past four years, Michael Flanagan has been traveling far and wide in his mobile “gypsy kitchen” peddling delicious Vermont food at famous festivals like Bonnaroo in Tennessee and Mountain Jam in New York. However, the dedicated Vermontavore had dreams of keeping his business as local as the food he sources. This year, Michael’s food truck “Good to Go” traveled to 17 festivals—15 of which were local, here in Vermont.

Lucky Vermont event goers had many opportunities to try Michael’s globally inspired and locally sourced menu featuring dishes like his popular “Local Buddha Noodles” featuring Vermont Soy tofu, Kingsbury Market Garden greens and herbs, mushrooms and foraged ramps. Michael honed his skills for cooking Asian style cuisine through his extensive traveling, and from opening the restaurant China Moon in Warren with restaurateur and innovative Chef Steve Bogart (who later founded A Single Pebble). Chef Steve helped Michael source the rare and unique Chinese ingredients that compliment and play off fresh, local ingredients to make a dish shine. Dishes like the “Local Buddha Noodles” have rabid fans (many of whom are other food cart owners and employees) clamoring for the recipe! Chef Michael is generous with his fans, but some secrets must stay in the sauce…

Michael has closed the Good to Go Gypsy Kitchen for the winter so he can upgrade his veggie oil powered truck to expand his business and help bring us more delicious local festival eats next season…

Spoiler alert--look for expanded Latin cuisine options!
